Blues Come Up Short at Billings, 2-1
The Barton Springs Blues wasted an inspired, 5-inning effort from starter Dave Mills, falling 2-1 to the Billings Polar Bears at The Igloo. Otis Knapp notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. Billings is now 26-44, while Barton Springs is 29-41.

The Blues had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Polar Bears going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old center fielder Alonso Romo came to the plate. Romo hit a solo home run on a 2-0 cutter from Barton Springs hurler Dave Mills. It was Romo's 1st home run of the year.

Afterward, Polar Bears manager Marvin Nelson was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
