The Lancaster Farmers picked up a win at Farmers Field, knocking off the Ottawa Nationals, 4-1. Starting pitcher Jeffrey Pope played a key role in the triumph. In 7.1 innings, Pope surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Lancaster, at 33-35, holds down 8th place in the Menard's AA.
The Farmers got a big hit from right fielder Andy Gould. In the bottom of the fifth, Gould pounded a 3-run home run to right. His 12th home run of the season put the Farmers ahead, 3-1.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gould.
