Love Boats Deal Nationals 12-7 Loss
Vinnie van der Weiden was a major factor in the 12-7 Lake Minnetonka win over Ottawa. The Love Boats designated hitter slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Dan Young got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. The Love Boats go to 34-28, putting them 5th in the Menard's AA.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Augusto Castro came to bat in the top of the 14th. Facing Ottawa pitcher Romochka Oistrah, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Lake Minnetonka on top, 8-7.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," van der Weiden told the Lake Minnetonka Gazette.
