Hops Sink Nationals, 4-1
|
Yakima beat Ottawa on the strength of starter Cedric Carey's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-1. The second-place Hops lifted their record to 21-13.
Tom Hancock took Yang-cheng Sang deep in the bottom of the first. His 3-run home run put the Hops on top, 3-0. In all, Hancock had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
Hancock expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
