Polar Bears Take Down Blues, 4-3
|
The Billings Polar Bears faced a tough opponent in Barton Springs pitcher León Martínez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Igloo by a final score of 4-3. Martínez went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Otis Knapp, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Billings bumps their record to 12-15 with the win.
Júlio Rivera hit a grand slam home run off Charlie Lyon in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Polar Bears ahead, 4-3. In addition to the homer, Rivera had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
Rivera told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
