Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Fighting Imps
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Ithaca Fighting Imps and Ottawa Nationals came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Ithaca Fighting Imps beat the Ottawa Nationals, 6-2. Ithaca pitcher and Santa Ana, California, native Hank Garrett led the way. Garrett went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-1.
Ithaca used the timely hitting of Donald Boyd to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fighting Imps on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning never gets dull," said Boyd.
The Fighting Imps now have a record of 13-13 with the win over Ottawa.
