Blue Sox Beat Asheville, 3-2
|
The Asheville Highlanders went down to defeat to Jeffrey Eckert and his Irving teammates. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Blue Sox. Eckert got the win, improving to 5-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. Eckert allowed 2 runs. Jun-soo P'il recorded the save for Irving, his 1st of the season.
Irving used a clutch hit from Francisco Romero to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Sox ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
"If we keep winning the close games," Romero said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
Asheville drops to 11-9.
