Flamingos Sneak By Voodoo, 3-2
|
The Las Vegas Flamingos picked up a win at The Strip, knocking off the New Orleans Voodoo, 3-2. Starting pitcher Coyote Peterson was a big reason why. The Flamingos saw their win-loss record go to 44-28. At the same time, the Voodoo fell to 46-26.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 2-2, second baseman Julián Sorondo won it for Las Vegas. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Sorondo hit a 0-1 fastball from Russ T. Nayle for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Sorondo.
