White Walkers Lose Again, 5-3, to Pandas
|
The Buffalo White Walkers got a superb performance from pitcher Quan Shiu, but the Montana Pandas still won the game, 5-3. Shiu came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters. Francisco Hernández, the winner, goes to 6-2. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Cristián Moreno earned the save for Montana, his 1st.
Melvin Thomas, the slick-fielding second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Thomas contributed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put Montana up, 1-0.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Montana manager Andrew Schupick.
Montana now has a record of 34-28 with the win.
