The Port Royal Disaster and Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys obliged fans looking for a good time.
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys got a superb performance from pitcher Luis Sastre. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Port Royal. The Disaster won the game, 5-4. Sastre threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Takayuki Shimizu earned the save for Port Royal, his 12th of the year.
Had Derek Kelly not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Kelly hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Disaster.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Kelly told a Port Royal Times reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The Disaster now have a record of 29-65.
