Sacramento starter Gian-Carlo Maneilli put a stranglehold on the Kansas offense. The right-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Redlegs to a 1-0 win. Maneilli, now 2-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 4, and allowing no runs. Kansas has now lost 4 consecutive games.

The Rainbeaus had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Redlegs going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Luis Ibáñez came to the plate. Ibáñez hit a solo home run on a 1-0 fastball from Kansas hurler Kevin Hamm. It was Ibáñez's 9th home run of the year.
