Both teams had their chances, but the Norfolk Pajaritos eventually prevailed.
The Norfolk Pajaritos did just enough to secure a victory over the Port Royal Disaster, 5-4, at Ballpark of Port Royal. Nobody did more than pitcher Elroy Quaid. Da'wan Gaines notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now sits at 4-1.
Norfolk used the timely hitting of Luis Flores to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pajaritos ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"Enjoyed this one," Flores told the Norfolk Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Norfolk is now riding a 3-game win streak.
