Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys starter Steve Gourin turned in a top-notch performance against the Port Huron Blitzkrieg at Port Huron Park. The result was a win for the Squirrel Monkeys, 6-1. Syracuse is now 41-28. Port Huron is 18-51.
Ali Ben Bongo, the 30-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Bongo contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Syracuse up, 3-1.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Syracuse manager Stu Henderson. "Our pregame was pretty good."
