Squirrel Monkeys Down Blitzkrieg, 4-3
|
The Port Huron Blitzkrieg and Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys faced a tough opponent in Port Huron pitcher David Graham, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Port Huron Park by a final score of 4-3. Graham went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Georges Cormier, now 5-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. Larry Benítez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities.
Syracuse used the clutch hitting of Robby Sinor to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Sinor said.
With the win, Syracuse pushed its record to 39-28.
