The Tortolita Drummers overcame a fine performance by Syracuse first baseman Ali Ben Bongo to defeat the Squirrel Monkeys, 7-6, at Drummers Ballpark. Bongo belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The win was credited to Jérôme Fleury in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Larry Benítez took the loss. Tortolita is now 24-37, Syracuse 37-24.

The Drummers procured the win, in large part because of right fielder Leland Sigurdson. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double.

"Exciting game to play in," said Sigurdson. "Getting the win makes it even better."
