Squirrel Monkeys Sneak By Fighting Dachsunds, 4-3
|
Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys starter Noah Walker pitched a strong game against the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds at Dog Park in Ellenburg, leading the Squirrel Monkeys to victory, 4-3. Reliever Ignacio Ayala picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Jeff Moore took the loss. The third-place Squirrel Monkeys are now 34-21, the Fighting Dachsunds 28-27.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Ali Ben Bongo came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Ellenburg pitcher Jeff Moore, he hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Syracuse on top, 4-3.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Walker told the Syracuse Times.
