Port Huron pitcher Phil Stephens did his part in helping his team beat the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, 5-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Victor Brown closed it out for his 7th save. Port Huron, with the win, sits at 15-38.

Port Huron took a 5-2 lead on Ron Ficco's 8th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Ficco hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Syracuse pitcher Harold Hunter visibly frustrated.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Port Huron manager Harrison Blackford.
