Squirrel Monkeys Edge Past Disaster, 4-3
|
Behind a fine performance from Ron Burnett, the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys knocked off the Port Royal Disaster, 4-3. Burnett slugged 2 home runs for the Squirrel Monkeys. Harold Hunter earned the save, his 2nd, for the Squirrel Monkeys. The Disaster, at 7-24, have lost 8 straight games.
Syracuse used the clutch hitting of Danny Rodríguez to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Burnett told the Syracuse Times.
