Kansas Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Long
Norfolk and Kansas exchanged punches and in the end the Pajaritos won the slugfest.

The Norfolk Pajaritos had to overcome a big game from Kansas third baseman Guan-xiu Long to leave Wichita Field with a victory. And they did, winning 14-12. Long slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5. The win belongs to Otto Mathews in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Luis Valdés took the loss for Kansas.

The most important at-bat for Norfolk came in the top of the ninth inning, when right fielder Brian Harmon stroked a 1-2 fastball to left for a run-scoring single, putting Norfolk up, 10-9.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Harmon said.

The loss puts Kansas at 6-4.
