Led by Mark Mears, the Milton Dogfish Head defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters, 9-2. Mears belted 3 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring three times for the Dogfish Head. Dan Dunn got the win, improving to 9-3. He held the Lake Monsters to no runs on 1 hit over 5.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Milton improves to 55-29 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.
Mears had a big hit for Milton with two out in the top of the third. With Milton leading 2-0, Mears hit a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Dogfish Head up, 5-0.
Mears called the triumph "a good team win."
