Golden Cranes Squelch Black Mambas Offense in Shutout Win
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes faced a tough opponent in Austin pitcher George Crane, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Crane Field by a final score of 5-0. Crane went 7.2 innings and allowed 5 runs. The winner was Santa Barbara reliever John Lee, now 1-0. The loser was George Crane. Jonathan Vega earned the save for Santa Barbara, his 2nd.

The Golden Cranes got an important contribution from shortstop Cory Blatchford, who in the bottom of the third knocked a full count curveball into left for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Golden Cranes ahead, 3-0.

"We need to keep playing good baseball," Blatchford told the Santa Barbara Observer.

The 10th-place Golden Cranes improved to 33-39.
