Bakersfield Downs Plymouth as Jones Tosses 2-0 Shutout
|
The Bakersfield Nobles did little to support starter Clarence Jones against the Plymouth Rocks, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Rocks, striking out 5 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Jones allowed Bakersfield to escape with the 2-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Clarence, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Jones told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
On his stats sheet this season Jones shows a 3-1 record, 8 starts, 47 innings, 34 strikeouts and a 3.64 ERA.
