On Road, Ogres Top Turbeaus, 5-0
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Gulf Coast Turbeaus home opener. Kevin Hamm started for the home team against Felipe Hernández for the Olympia Ogres. The Turbeaus were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 5-0, Olympia. Felipe Hernández, though, was impressive. Hernández, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 4 walks.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Trent Brown? The Olympia right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Ogres on top, 1-0. For the game, Brown had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
Brown told a Olympia Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
