Forest City Funk Reaches 6 Games
|
Forest City first baseman Sherwin Tacod had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Tacod went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, even as Vermont beat the Warriors, 5-4. Bob Wheelock got the win, improving to 3-7. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 4. Forest City now has a 6-game losing streak.
In the bottom of the fourth, Vermont second baseman António Cruz had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Cruz stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 4-3, Vermont. For the game, he went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Cruz. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
