Syracuse and Hamilton got after it at Coyote Wildlife Refuge.

The Syracuse Starks defeated the Hamilton Coyotes, 7-3. Doing his part was left fielder Justin Forbes, who went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Syracuse, now 7-11, is off to a slow start.

Syracuse relied on the hitting of Rafael Gutiérrez to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Starks on top, 3-1. For the game, Gutiérrez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Starks manager Ramón García. "This one was nice to get."
