The Monongahela Monsters got a sterling performance from pitcher Mutu Kirra, but the Pennsauken Flyers still prevailed, 7-4. Kirra came in in relief and pitched to 21 batters. Eric O'Slattery closed it out for his 1st save. The loss has the Monsters at 3-3.

Pennsauken used the bat of Steve Hodge to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Flyers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Hodge told the Pennsauken Chronicle.
