Oaks Best Northern Lions BC in Pitching Duel
In a tight game between the Oakland Oaks and the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, pitcher Stewart Telfer was terrific on the mound. The Oakland right-hander helped his team to the 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Telfer, now 1-1. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. The save was credited to Gerald Plomp, his 1st.

The Oaks got an important contribution from first baseman Héctor Heredice, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 1-1 fastball into left for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Oaks ahead, 2-1.

In postgame comments to the Oakland Bulletin, Telfer said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
