Elite Tagged with 5-2 Loss
|
Toledo and Detroit duked it out and the Stingers came out victorious.
The Toledo Stingers picked up a win at Pacesetter Park, knocking off the Detroit Elite, 5-2. Starting pitcher James Brandon was a big reason why. Brandon went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-6. John Walton got the save, his 3rd in 5 chances.
The Stingers got a big at-bat from third baseman Chris P. Bacon. For the game, Bacon was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 14th double of the season gave Toledo a 3-2 lead.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Bacon told the Toledo Chronicle. "You win just by scoring more runs."
The win has Toledo at 39-64.
