Stingers Lose to Battery in Walk Off
|
The Battery grabbed a win, 4-3, at Charleston Armory, overcoming a fine effort from Toledo pitcher James Brandon. Brandon went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. The win belongs to James Tucker in relief. His record improves to 3-7. John Walton took the loss for Toledo. The losses continue to mount for Toledo, which has now dropped 10 in a row.
Charleston won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and John Walton on the mound for Toledo, shortstop Nando van der Goor hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Battery fans to their feet.
"We had a chance to win," said Toledo manager TJ Reynolds, "but we didn't get it done."
