The D.C. Divided withstood an impressive performance by Detroit designated hitter Danny Trautmann to defeat the Elite, 5-4, at Washington Stadium. Trautmann went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Wu-ti Xuan converted his 20th save in 24 tries. The win makes D.C. 40-56.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Layton Arntsen was at the plate when D.C. scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Divided to go in front, 5-4.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Detroit manager Dustin Hewitt. "But we decided not to take it."
