Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Elite
|
The Detroit Elite had to overcome a fine effort from Baltimore pitcher Li-chi Lou to grab a narrow 5-3 win at Baltimore Grounds. Lou went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Daryl Dwyer earned his 22nd save in 26 chances. With the win, Detroit raised its record to 49-44.
Detroit used a clutch hit from António Macías to snatch the win. The third baseman belted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Elite ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Macías told the Detroit Daily.
