Vargas Selected Top Player Monday, June 19th , 2045 22-year-old Jesús Vargas made a few Chesapeake headlines during this past week as the rookie catcher proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and USSL Double A officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 11 hits in 19 at-bats to put up a .579 average. Vargas collected 1 home run, 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. Vargas is hitting .340 so far this season with 10 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has 17 hits including 2 home runs, 9 walks and .443 OBP. |
