Shredders Suffer 4-1 Setback
Hollywood got a terrific performance from pitcher Dave Becker, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Mateo Dirty Reds. San Mateo won the Lang Park contest, 4-1. Becker threw 7.0 innings of 1-hit ball for the losing team. Urs Ehles, now 5-3, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 0. The Shredders have now dropped 5 straight.

San Mateo took a 3-1 lead on João Lourenço's 14th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Lourenço hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Hollywood pitcher Brewster Warble shaking his head.

"I still think this team can play even better," Lourenço told the San Mateo Daily News.
