Bakersfield Nobles Win PL AAA Championship
|
A celebratory mood filled the air as the Bakersfield Nobles closed out the season with a 4-2 victory over the Alaskan Humpbacks at Jerome Grounds to capture the PL AAA Championship, 3-2.
Giving the Humpbacks credit for a hard-fought series, Nobles players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned USPL Triple A champions.
"We felt like this was our year all season long," said shortstop Trent Conner, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did."
It was the 13th in franchise history. During the Premier AAA regular season Bakersfield put up a 69-33 record and finished first.
"They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Alaskan manager Lou Cook. "We played good ball, they just played better than us."
