Knights Lose to Dirty Reds, 4-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the San Mateo Dirty Reds got the win.
León Castillo impressed in the 4-2 San Mateo win over Kingston Township. Castillo, who is tied for 9th in the SL in triples with 2, was 3-4 with a home run and a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Juan Moreno, the winner, improved to 3-3. He held the Knights to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2.
Jason Slaybaugh broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Dirty Reds in front, 3-2. For the game, Slaybaugh drew 1 walk.
"Enjoyed this one," Slaybaugh told the San Mateo Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
San Mateo raised its record to 35-21 with the win.
