Watford City starter Diederick van der Ploeg put a stranglehold on the Surprise offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Trash Pandas to a 2-0 win. van der Ploeg, now 3-6, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Watford City, now 48-46, holds down 6th place in the Menard's R.

An impactful at-bat came in the top of the third inning. With the bases loaded, the batter, Gaballah Murunga, reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. It made the score 1-0, Watford City, and helped them go on to win.
