Octopi Mow Down Shockers, 9-1
|
Good production from left fielder Wen Mi helped the Ogallala Octopi topple the Surprise Shockers, 9-1. Mi went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Octopi. Ogallala pitcher Danny Lyons got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Boyd Vélez got the loss. Ogallala has now won 3 straight, while the Shockers have lost 3 in a row.
Ogallala designated hitter Juan Guzmán contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Octopi ahead, 5-0.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Guzmán said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
