Shockers Pull Off Thrilling 2-0 Win in Extras
|
The Shockers faced a stiff challenge from Flint pitcher Tom Farrell, but persevered to claim a win at Flint Park. The final score was 2-0. Farrell went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Corey Paynter, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Shockers move to 35-34 with the win, while the Crush drop to 16-53.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Júlio Vega's at-bat in the top of the 18th was vitally important. With no one out, the Surprise center fielder hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 1-0 lead.
"Runs were at a premium," said Surprise manager Kyle Bass.
