Getting an impressive start from Alejandro Colón, Franklin beat Crowley by the score of 2-0. Colón, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Sergio Vázquez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 16th save.

It could have been a different outcome for Franklin, had it not been for He-ping Bu, the 20-year old shortstop . Bu contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Franklin up, 1-0.
