Sea Dogs Earn 2-1 Win Versus Harbor Whales
|
In a tight affair between the Maine Sea Dogs and the Greenport Harbor Whales, pitcher Jorge García was in the zone. The Maine left-hander helped his team win the game, 2-1. García, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The victory gives Maine a record of 49-33.
Had Curt Marks not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Marks hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Sea Dogs.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Marks said.
