Canonniers de Quebec Pull Off Thrilling 7-6 Win in Extras
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at The Zoo.
The Canonniers de Quebec had to overcome a big game from Redwood right fielder Sang-chul Kwon to leave The Zoo with a victory. And they did, winning 7-6. Kwon went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Gary Dillon, now 3-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Conor Routledge came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Redwood pitcher Pablo Morales, he hit a 1-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Canonniers de Quebec on top, 7-6.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Routledge, "but we got it done."
With the win, Canonniers de Quebec pushed its record to 35-35.
