5-1 Triumph Takes Fort Knox to 45-26
|
The Fort Knox Centennial took Long Island pitcher Gus Clark's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Baxter. The final score had Fort Knox getting past the Ducks, 5-1. Clark went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 7. Fort Knox reliever Félix Ruíz got the win, raising his record to 4-2. Gus Clark was tagged with the loss. Long Island has now lost 5 straight.
Had Derek Tyerman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Tyerman hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Centennial.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Fort Knox manager Justin Saginov.
