Tight Tilt Goes to Ducks, 3-2
|
The Long Island Ducks topped the Tulsa Otters, 3-2, in USPL Rookie action at Ballpark of Hughesville. The game was highlighted by the performance of Long Island pitcher Gus Clark. Clark went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-5. Harvey Caldwell locked down his 16th save.
Long Island used the clutch hitting of Hambleton Oliver to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Ducks the lead, 1-0. For the game, Oliver had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"There's a lot of fight left in this team," said Clark.
The losing streak for Tulsa has now reached 5 games.
