The 4-3 Myrtle Beach win over South Beach was due in large part to António Taváres. The Seahawks catcher was 2 for 2 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. Phil Lewis, 3-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The 7th-place Seahawks are 41-51.

Had Xiao-gang Kong not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Kong hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Seahawks.

"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Taváres. "I just want to win ballgames."
