Warheads Take Down Uruguayans, 3-2
|
The Amarillo Warheads took Germantown pitcher Vicente Torres's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Albuquerque. The final score had Amarillo getting past the Uruguayans, 3-2. Torres went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 9. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Vicente Alou. The Warheads now have a record of 17-33.
Amarillo used the clutch hitting of Gene Haber to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Warheads ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"Tough loss," said Germantown manager António Pineda. "But we'll learn from it."
