Behind an impressive start by Clark Ritchie, South Beach beat Athletic Club KC, 4-2. South Beach reliever Arturo Álvarez was the winner. His record is now 5-1. The losing pitcher was Rostislav Kwasnicki. Getting the save was Tommy Casey, his 4th.

South Beach used the timely hitting of Jeremy Watson to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blaze ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Ritchie told the South Beach Bulletin.

South Beach, at 54-31, is 4 games up in the Premier A.
