The Mississippi Mockingbirds bested the Toledo Stingers, 5-4, at Pacesetter Park. Wally Briggs was one of the standouts. He was 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The Mockingbirds improved to 13-13.

Mississippi used the clutch hitting of Takeshi Kovacs to snag the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mockingbirds ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Kovacs.
