Yinzers Sneak Past Seahawks, 3-2

The Myrtle Beach Seahawks got a superb performance from pitcher Wayne King, but the Monroeville Yinzers still won the game, 3-2. King threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball. Richard McCord earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record is now 4-0. Jack Herer closed the door for Monroeville, picking up his 16th save of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Dave Montés came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Myrtle Beach pitcher Carlos Pagán, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Monroeville on top, 3-2.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Montés told the Monroeville News.
After today's action, Monroeville sits at 29-37; Myrtle Beach slips to 30-36.
