Nova Scotia wasted a solid 6-inning effort from starting pitcher Ken Grant, losing to San Mateo, 2-1, at Lang Park. Hahn Hartwig came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Jorge González picked up the save, his 1st.
Making an impact for the home team was Ambrose Watkins. In the bottom of the fourth, the 27-year old catcher had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 2-0, Dirty Reds.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said San Mateo manager Dean Ashley.
With their winning streak at 4, the Dirty Reds have raced to a strong start this season.
