Washington got a decent performance from pitcher Charles Harvey, but it wasn't enough to beat the Delmarva Gallos. Delmarva won the Washington Park contest, 3-2. Harvey threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Delmarva has a 3-game win streak, while Washington has lost 3 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Delmarva, had it not been for Manuel Pérez, the 22-year old shortstop . Pérez contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Delmarva up, 2-1.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Pérez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
